Sometimes the answer isn't a bigger spring — it's a heavier hammer.

Slug shooting demands higher pressures to move the extra weight and bearing surface a slug carries. With longer barrels, velocity climbs further if the valve can be held open longer. The Tungsten Hammer Weight — an airgun-world first — is how FX gets there.

The physics are simple and effective. Tungsten is 1.7 times denser than the steel used in standard FX hammers. That additional mass strikes the valve with substantially more energy, which lets the valve crack open even at high regulated pressures and — critically — stay open longer before it closes. More air, delivered for longer, behind a heavier projectile. That's the recipe slugs want.

The Tungsten Hammer really comes into its own with longer barrels — 700mm and 800mm — where the ideal is to keep the valve open right up until the moment the slug exits the muzzle. If you've fitted a long Superior Heavy Liner and found your rifle running out of shove at the top of the hammer wheel, this is the part that fixes it at the source rather than winding more preload into a spring.

Because it adds mass rather than preload, the tungsten weight changes the character of the shot cycle. You get more usable range on the hammer spring adjuster, better valve behaviour at high reg pressure, and generally a more consistent string at power levels where a standard steel hammer starts struggling.

One honest caveat, straight from FX: shooters running standard pellets will not see a benefit from the Tungsten Hammer. This is a slug and high-pressure part. If you shoot pellets at moderate power, your factory hammer is already doing its job properly.

Fitment: FX Impact M3.
